Uncanny Resemblence

I have some better photos of these two to really show how much they look alike, but I will have to find them on my external hard drive.

This is Filly pony:

and this is Jack pony:

Jack is a couple of inches taller than Filly, but boy, wouldn't they make a cute driving pair?

Yes, in my dreams, but someone may be able to train them and borrow them for a matched pair. It would take a lot of work, but maybe since Filly doesn't like to be ridden, she would like pulling? It's a thought!

Settling In

So far, so good with Filly. She has literally settled right in. Here are some photos from today.

Grazing with little Tonto, her buddy from when I previously owned her:

That's Scout way in the background to the left:

The happy trio:

Scout likes her A LOT...

And back to the way it used to be - Filly bossing little ole Tonto around:

Hoping to begin messing with Filly soon. She has certainly mellowed a lot since we owned her last (5 years ago). I'm curious to see how she would do as a trail horse as apposed to trying to work her in an arena. Time will tell. For now, she is just chilling with her buddies.

The Ties that Bind

Remember this Post from October 2009? http://pikeroadgirl.blogspot.com/2009/10/filly-has-new-home.html

Well, guess who is back at our home now?

The lovely young lady who bought Filly in Oct. 2009, is now breeding warmbloods and training horses full time, so she needed room for another horse. So, she very kindly contacted me last December, and over time, we were able to make it possible to bring her to our place.

For now, she's going to "hang out" with the pony boys, Tonto and Scout. She arrived yesterday and all has gone well so far.

Things come full circle for a reason, too, so I am curious as to what this journey will bring. Filly and Tonto seemed to remember each other. Scout has fallen head over heels in love with the beautiful new mare....his more studly side is coming out....

It will be an interesting ride. I'll try to keep you posted.... :)

Until next time - Happy Riding!

Time Marches On

So hard to believe This is the first week of September and that we have started another school year.

This year we have a
SENIOR:

An 8th Grader:

And a 4th Grader!

All three of these precious blessings are growing up way too fast. Our oldest is shadowing at a local small animal vet clinic and is aspiring to become a veterinarian. I truly hope he will continue to pursue his passion and love of caring for animals. All 3 started soccer practice this week, so we will be busy with soccer until the end of October, then more than likely be going to All Stars in November.

It is going to be a full-blast, ton-of-fun fall! And I am soooooo ready to get back in the saddle a bit more often when the weather cools off. Maybe the kiddos will want to ride some as well. We'll see!

This is what Scout thinks of more time under saddle:

But, nay, I say! Y'all have beautiful padded bridles to be ridden in now!

Jack has spent some time under saddle since he came back to my parents' place the end of April. A wonderfully skilled young lady has put several rides on him and he has behaved well! He is going to be a really nice fellow with some time and patience. I need to get my Mom to start riding him.....

And one of my favorite photos of me on Scout pony. My oldest son took this photo for me this past March. Scout is a bit scruffy in his winter coat, but he is so soft and relaxed...it is a rarity for him!

On a sad note, our beloved Annie kitty has been missing since Labor Day. I hope she is out gallivanting and will return soon. She did disappear for 6 days last year and showed back up. Not having her home is very worrisome though. She is such a love and we are so very worried about her.

Hopefully the next time I get around to posting, Annie will be home....and I'll be able to report more time in the saddle! In the meantime - Happy Riding!
